First Post

I try to get back from lunch early on most workdays. It’s not that I love my job – no I don’t, thank you very much. It’s not that I dislike my colleagues and want to avoid those damn awkward lunchtime conversations (even though I do).

It’s my habit of getting back to my computer early so as to read the news articles and reports that my friends and I sometimes email to each other from our workplaces in the morning. Lunchtime has become a special time for us to discover how Singaporean society has basically gone downhill since the golden years of our generation. And it has a lot to do with the generally spoiled, idealistic attitudes of the privileged young generation of kids that we have today.

Sure, some kids are good, decent, down-to-earth kids who appreciate how lucky they are to be born in a first-world city like Singapore. But most young people nowadays have a warped perception of reality. They are never content about their lives here, or they think that they must live like kings and queens, even though most of them will end up ordinary and middle class like the rest of us.

I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry. But I hope this blog will put them in their place and wake them up from their delusions.
